This big, kind Belgian mare is a true been-there-done-that type. We recently purchased her along with another Belgian gelding, and they have lived together for some time. Lucy drives well in harness, both single and double, and she also rides nicely.
Under saddle, she rode off gentle and willing. She has a good walk, is comfortable to ride, and even picked up a canter in our small arena, which is impressive for a mare of her size and age. At times you may notice a little fidgeting, but it’s nothing more than her looking for the horse she lived with—no bad habits, just adjusting to a new place.
On the ground she is gentle and easy to handle. She is good with her feet, hauls great, and stands quietly tied, including on cross ties. This mare has a calm, kind demeanor and has clearly been well used and well cared for.
