Sometimes you just have to buy the horse—and that was exactly the case with Ailbhes Artful Zip, better known around here as Lorax.
Lorax is a 2023 registered Half Gypsy gelding standing 15.3 hh, and unique is probably the best word to describe him. He was raised out on the range in Canada and was only halter broke when he came to us. Since then, he has come a long way. He spent two months with Danielle Davis getting a quality foundation before coming home, and Hailey and I have since put somewhere around 100 rides on him between the arena and the trail.
For a young horse, Lorax has impressed us every step of the way. He is easygoing, gentle, willing, and takes new experiences in stride. We have purposely let him sit for several weeks at a time, pulled him back out, saddled him up, and found the same horse we left off with. That kind of mind is worth a lot in a young one.
He has plenty of size at 15.3 hh, a distinctive look, and enough foundation underneath him that someone can take him in just about any direction. Trail horse, English prospect, western all-arounder, family horse down the road—Lorax is ready for someone to take the reins and make him into exactly what they want.
He started life running the Canadian range, came to us barely halter broke, and today has around 100 rides and a great attitude about his job. We bought Lorax because he was different, and after putting the time into him, we’re awfully glad we did. Cool young gelding, cool story, and a whole lot of future ahead of him!Specifications
