Sometimes you take a long shot and buy the horse — and today, that horse was Getcho.
Getcho is a 2016 gray AQHA stallion with a pretty interesting story behind him. He was born and raised on the Cofer Ranch before being purchased by a gentleman in Georgia who used him for pleasure riding and taught him a whole collection of neat things along the way. The local folks I bought him from purchased him from their uncle, which is how this handsome gray gelding ended up here in Maine.
First and foremost, Getcho is broke to ride and enjoyable about his work. He is a nice mover, knows his leads, carries a good headset, neck reins, and has a good stop. He was trained by a Mexican Charro and even knows how to Mexican dance — definitely not something we get to say about one every day!
We recently gelded him and I have been impressed with his manners. He is gentle to be around and has been fairly gentlemanly around other horses, aside from letting out an occasional whinny.
