    Description

Typical Sugar Lump aka: “Sugar” - 14.3H, 2009' sorrel AQHA mare Sugar is sweet, seasoned, well-bred and trained - and ready to have FUN! If you're looking for a whole lot of training, kindness, experience, and FUN in a more affordable price bracket, don't overlook this sweet little mare! We have had a ton of requests for cheaper horses this past few months, and we spent some time finding the high-est quality cheaper horses we could find! Sugar may have a little age and wear and tear on her, but she absolutely LOVES having a job and is as happy and willing as they come! She's the kind of seasoned, been-there-done-that mare that makes her rider enjoy every minute in the saddle and start looking forward to the next ride! Sugar was originally started as a cutter and has spent the last several years primarily being used as a recip mare. She's also exceptionally well-bred! Sugar is a granddaughter of Smart Little Lena, out of a Docs Hickory X Boon Bar mare, with Peppy San Badger also right on her papers on the top side! Some wonderful old-school cutting and cow horse bloodlines, and with her pedigree and disposition, she'd certainly be worth considering as a broodmare rather than simply a recipient mare. When we pulled her out to make her videos, she'd been turned out for months - and boy, was she happy to be back to work! We saddled her up, checked fences, moved a set of cows, used her for a riding lesson, worked her in the turnback pen, and then took her through the barrels. After a quick rinse and a couple of hours to eat and drink, we loaded her up and hauled her to an evening barrel race! My daughter entered her and almost placed in the jackpot that evening, afterwards she expo'd and Sugar went down the alley just as quietly and willingly on her 5th expo as she did on her first! She's got some speed if you ask for it, but she's just as happy to quietly lope through the pattern if that's what her rider prefers. And here's what we love most about this little mare... she makes people WANT to ride! After that first barrel race, my daughter spent the entire next week catching Sugar, trotting her, loping her, and getting her fit for the next race. She had her little brother's babysitting arranged, Mom's schedule rearranged, and even had someone lined up to help with feeding chores so we could get to the race early the next week! That's the kind of horse you want to have around! One that makes a kid excited to ride, take responsibility, make plans, and look forward to doing it all again. Sugar is just plain FUN, and she's the kind of mare that makes riding enjoyable instead of complicated. She's got three lovely, comfortable gaits, is incredibly smooth and easy to sit, catches her leads, has a great handle, and a really nice stop. She'd be a blast to take to local playdays and jackpots, try in the sorting pen, use at a branding, or simply enjoy around the ranch. She probably would rope decently on the heel side or breakaway - she has a great stop! Sugar is an older mare, and she does have a little wear and tear. She doesn't travel completely 100%, and we want to be upfront about that just in case you can't see that in her videos. However, the way she travels has been very consistent, whether she's been turned out for months or been used all day. Most importantly, she's happy, willing, and genuinely enjoys her job the way she currently travels! She loves to go and she's also just about as uncomplicated as they come. She's no trouble to have around and has been the same sweet, willing mare whether you leave her turned out or ride her every single day. We've spent some time getting Sugar looking and feeling her bestafter having some babies. We power-pack dewormed her, had her teeth done, and kept her in our fitting barn for three weeks to get her bloomed back up. She does occasionally crib in a stall - not on the auto water bowls, but on a feeder, its been really light and we have not put a collar on her - we have not seen this habit when shes outside. She'll be joining our lesson program until she sells, we really enjoyed having her around! We've had a tremendous number of requests lately for more affordable horses, so we've made an effort to find some of the nicest, most experienced, and best-quality horses we can offer in a low price bracket. Sugar is exactly the kind of mare we were hoping to find! If you're looking for a kind, gentle, well-trained little mare to help build confidence, get back into riding, take a child out to have some fun, or simply enjoy without spending a fortune, Sugar deserves a look! With her training, experience, wonderful disposition, and beautiful pedigree, she has a whole lot to offer for the money. But the best thing about Sugar? She's the kind of horse that makes you want to saddle up again tomorrow!
