Honda Announces 2024 FourTrax Rubicon 4X4 Automatic ATV
A new name, fresh styling, storage capacity increases, and updated features are on tap for the 2024 Honda FourTrax Rubicon 4x4 Automatic—previously the Honda Rincon. Customers can expect excellent durability from Honda’s largest ATV thanks to a beefier front bumper with a more aggressive style and better headlight protection. The vehicle is also highly versatile, making it a terrific option for farms and ranches, challenging trails, and numerous other recreational and utility settings.
Engine & Transmission Details
The FourTrax Rubicon 4x4 Automatic’s engine is the same one that powers the Honda Pioneer 700 UTV. The liquid-cooled, single-cylinder 675-cc power plant employs a semi-dry-sump design. It delivers power to a truck-style 3-speed automatic transmission that’s beltless, which Honda says does away with belt slippage and worn-out clutches.
The transmission provides automatic and manual shifting. New Auto Mode Manual Override functionality lets the driver shift up and down in Auto mode for greater control. The ATV’s TraxLok system allows for choosing 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive to accommodate given riding conditions. Honda says 2-wheel drive provides lighter steering on flat ground, while 4-wheel drive provides maximum traction.
New Styling & Lighting
Available in Avenger Red and Matte Silver Metallic trims, the FourTrax Rubicon 4x4 Automatic is overflowing with new styling features, including new front and rear fenders, right and left mud guards, grille, center cover, skid plate, and graphics.
The ATV’s cast-aluminum black wheels and Maxxis tires are also new. The 26-inch (66-centimeter) tires are an inch (2.5 cm) larger than before, providing a smoother ride and boosting ground clearance by 0.4 in. (1 cm) to 9.5 in. (24 cm). The tires also have a more aggressive tread pattern for better traction. Also enhancing traction is the vehicle’s independent double-wishbone rear suspension, which has 8 in. (20.3 cm) of travel.
Better Visibility
Also worth highlighting is the ATV’s updated instrument panel. Honda enlarged the vehicle’s speedometer text size by 16%, altered the screen’s background for easier viewing in direct sunlight, and added a hydrophilic antifog treatment to reduce screen fogging. The instrument cluster now includes a tachometer and voltmeter, and a new LED assist light on the handlebar with high and low beams delivers better visibility on trails and paths.
Added Capacity
The FourTrax Rubicon 4x4 Automatic has an 848-pound (385-kilogram) towing capacity, and it carries over its 0.18-foot3 (5.2-liter) storage box for storing tools, gloves, goggles, and other necessities. Honda adds a 0.06-ft3 (1.8-L) pocket space for more storage capacity.
The vehicle’s front and rear racks have also improved. The front rack now handles 99 lbs (45 kg), a 50% increase, and the rear rack accommodates 42% more at 187 lbs (85 kg). Both racks now include the Honda Pro-Connect system, making it easy to add accessories such as front and rear utility baskets or a 1- ft3 (28-L) front cargo box.
